This post is part of Reverb10, a project that provides daily prompts in the month of December to help you reflect on the past year and set your intentions for the year ahead.
Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?
Honestly, the main community I discovered this year is my fellow Reverb 10 participants. The past week has been so invigorating as I’ve read people’s responses to the daily prompts and gotten to know a few participants in particular. We’re united by a common desire to reflect on 2010 and set our intentions for 2011, and to me that means we all share some common values — mindfulness, for one, and the importance of creative expression. And what defines a community more than shared values?
As far as the community I’d like to build in the year ahead: I want a stronger community of fellow people here in New York, and online, who truly energize me. Reverb 10 has whet my appetite for this, and I’m feeling greedy. I’m tempted to define this desired community more narrowly — “artists,” “yogis” — but my intuition tells me to leave it open…to allow myself to be surprised by the sources of the spark I seek.
How about you? What are the main communities in your life — and what community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?
